I think its better for family members should stay in the hospital whenever they are confused. The reason for this is that nurses can’t stay in one room and look at them whole time. Nurses like me needs to check the chart for MD’s orders from time to time, help other nurses who are running the code, or maybe do the charting, prepare medication, care for other patients, and somehow get some break and do personal things, eat drink, etc.
I just don’t like seeing patients falling. I have an incident awhile ago and he broke his arm bruised his leg and hit his head. Thats an added insult to the existing problem of the patient. I really feel sorry.
So just don’t forget be with your loveones when they are in the hospital especially if they are confused.
One thing family members can do is hire for a sitter, or ask the nursing service for options to prevent this kind of injury while in the hospital.
