One of my patient last night was a new LVAD implanted patient like 7 days ago and I am surprised at how the LVAD machine sound. I cant hear any squeky bearing or something inside anymore. Its just that I can’t believe the way it sounds. Maybe it became so ifficient that its more quiet than the pld LVAD’s I have taken care of. I don’t know why he got an LVAD, his age is not transplantable anymore. This patient has an end stage CHF and LV is non compliant maybe and maybe because the relatives and significant otheres are so optimistic of patients’ recovery that they persuade the MD to do everything and maybe they got what it takes to sustain a patient on an LVAD, that ,made the MD’s decide to place an LVAD on that patient. I don’t know if he is transplantable but to my knowledge and reading he is past borderline.

Anyway LVAD’s are lifesavers for patients who are cardio-pulmonary compromized. i’ve seen lots of patients on it and they had a nice and fruitful life. I have this patient before he is really really sick that he cannot walk,   short of breath though resting with multiple liters of Oxygen going and you can say he would die in a week… but you know what after a month of having the LVAD on him he was able to walk gradully and I did’nt even knew that he is a funny man, adn good man. When he was discharged he was walking  withoud difficulty.

It’s fascinating isn’t it? I hope one day LVAD will go nano too.
