I work in a floor where we admit almost all kinds of surgery patients from cardiac surgeries, to brain surgeries, to orthopedic surgeries, as well as trauma cases, transplant patients from kidney, liver, heart and lung(the last two are our specialty)… well Medical patients are not an exception as long as they meet the criteria for Temetry we take them. Especially those CHF(congestive heart failure), DVT’s, Vascular patients, Pulmo Embolism, etc etc etc etc(i would say)
Anyway this is my first time to have a patient with a rectal catheter on. It looks the same as the the foley with a tube for infalting the ballon in the rectum and a big size tube that drains to the bag.
I think this is great for patients who are having diarhea all the time… the ones I’m referring is the real diarhea where you can can apreciate a clear liquid number two. the disadvantage of it is that the tubing can be kinked and must be placed over the leg. overall I can say this is a great invention and still convenient for health workers to manage and deal with, as well time saving.
