Coke’s shrinking market over Pepsi…

I have been observing the marketing practices of Coca-Cola for a year now. I am beginning to realize that Coke’s market share is shrinking. With their year end report saying their coke product has very small growth in terms of the of profit that it give to the company.

I usually go out and eat outside it seems that almost 40% of the restaurants I dine in carry pepsi already. I also observed in the our 24 hour cafe in the hospital is already replacing coke products with pepsi. I asked my friend on our cafe why are they stocking lots of  Pepsi products she told me that the cafe entered an agreement to market Pepsi. Well maybe Pepsi is giving more incentives than Coke. Matter of fact in that cafe only or almost 15% of their drinks are Coke products and the rest is Pepsi products. I think this is the reason why my KO stock went down.

I think coke is not spending more ads, marketing campaign for its products, I don’t see them on TV anymore…what happened to the coke spirit? i think the management is more focused on acquiring companies like the recent Vitamin Water… that they already have forgotten their core business…

I am just concerned primarily because I am losing money already. I hope KO still in Buffet’s List! But still I am optimistic!
