Wal-Mart vs ShoeMart

My thoughts on WalMart vs Shoemart in Philippine market condition.

 Well WalMart and ShoeMart started on the concept of retail and discount sales. Both excelled well. But lets see how WalMart would fare in the Philippines. 

I think Walmart will have a hard time competing with SM primarily SM already have the edge over WM in the Phiippines. What if they we take away that premise. I think with the store condition of Walmart it will still be hard for WM to survive. Unless WM will really do the bargain of bargain sale in the Philippines which I presume they don’t have the capability to do that in an uncharted sea of WM.

But if WalMart will merge with one of the discount stores in the Philippines I think WM will have some edge. Will need more million dollar investment to topple the now number one discount store in the Philippines, SM.

But what if SM will go to US? I think SM will have hard time surviving also primarily because the buying capacity of Philippine Peso over Dollar is low which it will be hard for SM to do business in US.

BUt I don’t know, about this what if of mine… We’ll its just  my thoughts.
