Recession… we are getting there.

Here are some of the survival tips to keep you afloat during recession…. heres your tips for surviving recession.

1. Pay all your debts

Pay your credit cards debts, loans, every debt you have.

 2. Save Money starting now!

Save money that will let you survive for at least six months.

3. Downsize.

Downsize everything, if you like big mac before go for single cheese, instead of large frap go for small, sell your Chevy Tahoe and buy Toyota Prius, eat dinner at home and reduce eating out. and so on.

4. Stocks.

If you have asubstantial amount money in bank go buy Blue Chip stocks it has been proven several times these stocks go down with the market but recover right away when the recession is done.

5. Decrease remittances to home.

We Filipinos have obligation to our parents  and families at home, right?! (Well I am still thankfull that my parents sent me to school  and where I am right now reminds me of them alot that I feel responsible for their wellfare… I will futher elaborate that in the future). This will be the best time for you to tell your family that US will  be hit by hard time… tell your families that they need to start investing because there will be a time we can’t send money home for our survival here.

 6. Work two jobs.

We need to work extra and earn some more because that helps the economy and it adds money to your wallet for future spending. Don’t worry about rising taxes when you get your salary because you are still earning big. Rising tax rate is increasing money in your savings account.

7. Recession is the right time for investing.

Make sure before recession starts stock lots of money in your savings account to buyinvestments, it is expected that real estate prices go down to more than 30%, so thats the best time to invest. If you got thousands to millions go find a cheap company who you think will do good after recession.

Just take for example Warren Buffet, the richest man on planet earth, he started his company by buying the undervalued  Berkshire-Hathaway and now Berkshires stock price is more than hundred grand a piece.

8. Knowledge.

Go quench your thirst for learning more recession issues. That will help you a lot. Primarily because the more you ar informed the more chances you will survive.

9. Prepare for the worst to come.

Because the worst is not here yet, but its at your doorstep.

10.  Protect your Assets.

To protect your assets you can go buy gold, which is the standard but there are other ways to do that, ask your financial planner and he will lay you the plans.

11.  Consider relocating to a place with low living expenses.

12.  Learn.

Well recession is just a cycle, this is just temporary which could last a decade, don’t forget theres an END to this. Take it a lesson well learned so that when it hits you again you know how to stand up again.

Can you do that? well you must be exceptional. Drinking alcoholic drinks without getting drunk is a skill sometimes, but sometimes its your tolerance to alcohol that makes you stay alert and thats makes you an alcoholic.

But you can cheat, do you know that? yes you can cheat. I know you are asking by now: HOW?! to know just keep on reading.

So you are really interested. Ok I give up.

I was reading a Nuts-O label which contains cashew on it. Written on its label are these words:

 ”It’s a Downer”

”For every cocktail, there’s a hangover-a heavy head, low metabolism, general drowsiness. Well don’t worry, just munch a handful of cashew nuts along with a drink. Cashewnuts can effectively thwart the blues after ball. besides, it protects your liver cells from alcohol assault - no fear of cirrhosis even when the moonshine goes over board.”

” So carry on!”

But what if theres no cashew? I thinkyour best substitute is “Peanuts”. That makes sense since in most bars they serve you with peanuts as side.

and now that you have the idea, time for execution, buy alcohol and don’t get drunk! Remember DUI is expensive than the alcohol plus the risks.

At Baylor University Medical Center and across Baylor Health Care System intranet we are using an application from Thomson Health Care. It is a one stop shop for everything we need at work. It provides us the following:

  • Diseases-all diseases we can find in there just type the disease and it serves as our Medical Surgical Book.
  • Labs and labworks resource- a resource for all kinds of labworks, When you are using it for labs you can find tips how to collect the specimen, precautions etc.
  • Patient Education forms- all you have to do is look for the disease or medication or the type teaching you need to give to your patient and click “print”. There it goes you have your teaching with a form for patients to sign that they have recieved the material or teaching.
  • Drugs, Interactions- It also serves as our Nurses Drug Handbook, and its printable too, and serves as patient teaching again.
  • Alternative Medicines- Every altenative medications approved by FDA is in there too. You don’t have to worry again what that funny medication is all about.
  • PDA software- they also have a  PDA software that is compatible to Palm OS and Microsoft OS great one. A must have for your smart phone and PDA. But one thing I don’t like both format are unsstable!!! needs  inprovements. Its also complete and basically can provide all the things you need.
  • IV incompatibility- where you wondering if the IV meds that just hanged are incompatible? at Micromedex all you have to is key in the medication and enter them in a box and click one more there you will know if your vancomycin and dobutamine are incompatible.
  • Medication Calculators- Every medicaine calculators you need. except for the highly technical calculations of unfamiliar medications. This feature too can be found in their PDA Software, smart right?

and that makes it great… a MUST have for every Health Care System.

To me the most profitable business in the Philippines right now is “pawnshop!” You know why? because whenever inflation increases value of your money invested on those jewelries increases… and to me its a no loss business after all, discounting the fake gold/jewelries you get, of course its normal for you to be tested by con artists for those and you will learn from it. After all with all those money invested in your vault discounting the losses at the end of the year you can still call it a GAIN. Of course you don’t want to loss money, so you have to do well with your appraisal and judgement, and maybe iinvest on a Densitometer.

Usually pawnshop business peaks every December for christmas and new year, january when students start to go back to school, Planting Season when farmers need money to buy seeds, fertilizers, etc.  March-for the graduation day, and June during enrollment time. During these time people need easy access to cash thats why they need to pawn their gold.

With my experience as an appraiser, vault keeper, and personnel. I can say its a very profitable business in any times. Whether in bull or bear.
